GALVAN DARILEK HOUSE
Carles Pastor Foz, Albert Albareda i Valls
Corbera de Llobregat. Barcelona
2010 - 2011
The original house was built in a sloped roof hold on a sequence of thin brick walls every 60 cm in a traditional catalan system called "envanets de sotremort", that it is still widely used to refurbish traditional building typologies. Our challenge was releasing the space behind the roof to use it as a studio or guests room, so we created a new lighter wooden structure and reused most of the original ceramic tiles. The stairs are thought to be transparent, light and in white and wood. Another main goal was to implenent a solar panel kit, to reduce heating expenses.
